Village church

We start from the main gate and follow the middle road straight down to our village church in the distance. You can always hear its bells.

Lagoas

Past the church and two other chapels, the road takes you to the entrance of the protected forest, where you will walk along the well-prepared paths of the nature reserve.

Lima river

Descend to the ecotrail along the Lima River, then return to the narrow streets of our village and past cosy houses and gardens to the main entrance of our quinta. If you don’t want to stop anywhere, it can be done in 2.5 or 3 hours, but of course you will want to stop somewhere, so allow five hours in total.

On the way, you’ll find huge sand dunes and the most beautiful beaches of Afife, Arda and Carreço.

To Afife

Starting point – at the southern end of Vila Praia d’Âncora

From the southern seafront of the town, cross a bridge that leads to a wide sandy beach, continue along the sandy shore to the beach of Afife and Arda (about one and a half hours).

Two options

If you are very brave, you can continue as far as Carreço beach. These are deserted natural beaches full of charm, huge sand dunes and coastal vegetation. The path will be partly on sand and partly on wooden decks and forest roads, part of the Northern Littoral National Park Eco-path.

You will return the same way and have lunch at the Fortaleza Restaurant on the promenade of Vila Praia d’Âncora.

A less strenuous walk in the National Park Peneda Gerês offers breathtaking views, shady paths along streams and waterfalls, and pleasant breaks on warm boulders.

Ermida village looking point

Branda is the name of a summer village in Portugal where people used to take their cattle and move during the hot season – it was cooler and the grass was denser.  

You will first walk to Branda de Bilhares. Then you return to the village on a long traverse along the mountain with stunning views.

The starting point is a 45-minute drive from Vintequinta. Park your car at the viewpoint and walk towards the village of Ermida, turning right at the fork (signpost: Branda de Bilhares).

Follow the cobblestone road uphill and you will reach Branda in 35 minutes.

Walk back to Ermida and enjoy the panoramic view

Enjoy the ancient site and go back 400 m to the crossroads with a sign ERMIDA on the right.

From here, just follow the signs and enjoy the terrific views.

There will be a long traverse back to the village of Ermida and the viewpoint.

One of the largest oak woods in the municipality of Ponte de Lima can be explored on a circular route.

Cliffs and villages

Starting point is a water tank on the National road 307  ( Link Arca to Armada) named Descida louca ao sarrabulho

Heard toward chapel St Lourenço de Armada with a breathtaking view around

Head towards Armada, with a group of cliffs on the right, and Boalhosa, with a group of villages and agricultural areas on the way. In Boalhosa, follow the road to the church in the centre of the village.

Oak grove

Leaving the village behind, you descend to the Trovela River. The oak groves begin to appear and eventually you enter them completely.

At the end of the descent, you can enjoy the sound of the river and then start to climb back up to the start of the trail.

A lovely route through the countryside in the centre of the Peneda Gerês National Park.

This circular route is 7 kilometres long and is flanked by pastoral vegetation and forest oaks.

Starting point

The starting point for your journey will be the chapel of the small village of Germil, in the Peneda-Gerês National Park.

Going to the Germil de Baixo

You cross the stream, pass the cols and follow a pastoral path opened up by the passing of the herds, which ends in a forest path, always surrounded by beautiful scenery. Soon you can see magnificent riparian vegetation, surrounded by beautiful oak trees. Little by little, we begin to see the first houses of Germil de Baixo.
